What could your pumpkin become—a fox, an owl, or even a slice of pumpkin pie? This disguise a pumpkin printable gives kids eight playful ways to transform a paper pumpkin. Choose a design, color the pieces, then cut and glue your pumpkin’s new disguise!
Use this cut-and-paste activity for a fall craft afternoon, a classroom pumpkin display, or a Halloween party craft station. Grab the printable below to get started.

Best For: Preschool with adult cutting help, kindergarten, and early elementary kids
Activity Type: Printable fall cut-and-paste craft
Skills: Scissor practice, fine motor skills, arranging pieces, and creative storytelling
Choose Your Pumpkin’s Disguise
These paper pumpkins don’t need carving! Kids add printable features and accessories to turn their pumpkin into a different character or fall object.
The set includes eight designs:
- Corn: Add a face and leafy husks to a pumpkin covered in kernels.
- Acorn: Give your pumpkin an acorn cap and an oak leaf.
- Owl: Add eyes, wings, a beak, and feet.
- Fox: Arrange ears, eyes, paws, and a bushy tail.
- Pumpkin pie: Top your pumpkin with a pie crust and whipped-cream details.
- Mushroom: Add a spotted mushroom cap and a face.
- Scarecrow: Add a hat, straw hair, and a sunflower detail.
- Honey jar: Give your pumpkin a honey-jar lid, a honey dipper, and a face.
💡 Each design comes in black-and-white and color versions. Kids can color their own pieces or use the color pages to focus on cutting and assembling. A small finished example on each page helps them see how the pieces fit together.
Supplies
- Disguise a Pumpkin printable pages
- White paper or cardstock
- Crayons, colored pencils, or markers
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Optional construction paper for a background
Printing tip: I like 110 lb white cardstock for a sturdier finished craft. Check that your printer supports it, or use regular printer paper and glue the finished pumpkin onto construction paper.
Print only the designs and versions you plan to use. You don’t need to print the entire set for every child.
How to Disguise a Pumpkin
1. Choose and Print a Design
Let kids pick their pumpkin’s disguise. Use the black-and-white page for a coloring activity or the color page for a ready-to-cut version.
2. Color the Pieces
If you’re using a black-and-white page, color the pumpkin and accessories before cutting. Kids can follow the example or choose their own colors.
3. Cut Out the Pumpkin and Accessories
Cut around the pumpkin and each separate piece. An adult can help younger kids with small details or provide pre-cut pieces so they can concentrate on arranging and gluing.
4. Arrange the Disguise
Lay the pieces on and around the pumpkin before adding glue. Look at the small example on the page to see where the features go, then try out the arrangement.
💡 Ask: What makes this pumpkin look like an owl, a fox, or an acorn?
5. Glue and Display
Glue the pieces into place. Leave parts such as ears, wings, or a tail extending beyond the pumpkin’s edge where needed.
Keep the craft as a cutout or glue it onto a construction-paper background. Let it dry, then give your disguised pumpkin a name!

Ways to Use Your Disguised Pumpkins
Make a classroom pumpkin patch: Display the finished crafts together under the heading “Our Pumpkins Are in Disguise!” Let each child introduce their creation.
Add a writing prompt: Have kids finish the sentence, “My pumpkin is disguised as a ___.”
Set up a fall craft station: Offer a few printed designs with coloring supplies, scissors, and glue sticks. Keep each design’s pieces together in a tray.
Create a new disguise: After assembling a printable design, invite kids to draw extra accessories or add paper scraps to make their character their own.
